Protecting Georgia's Coast

In the latest Georgia Magazine, University of Georgia President, Jere Morehead, discusses the importance of Georgia’s coast and it’s wildlife, ports, manufacturing, tourism, and other industries.

 

UGA Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant located at Skidaway Island is no stranger to Southeast Aquariums. The team has transformed the facility from refurbishing the main exhibits, to a new jellyfish exhibit, and themed touch tank system.

Through the excellent research and work of the Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant team, they were awarded the University of Economic Development Association Award of Excellence.  Their work to help Georgia communities reduce their risk of flooding and thus lowering flood insurance rates will have a trickle effect for generations.
